The first president born in the USA (specifically USA, those born on future USA land don’t count) was the 8th president, Martin Van Buren. He also remains the only US president who spoke a foreign language as his first language (he spoke Dutch first).

Hmm interesting 🤔 I was under the impression that all presidents had to be born in the US
Nowadays all have to be natural born citizens, but not explicitly born in the US. For example, the guy who ran against Obama was born in Panama, but qualified for a citizenship at birth due to his parents, which makes him natural born. I’m not sure when the natural born requirement was put into place, but for the above post many of them couldn’t possibility be born in the US because it hadn’t been formed yet, but they were born in colonies that would become the US later on. At that point in the country's history, what counts as natural born may have been viewed differently :sanapray:
