So, I was just on this Facebook group for cat lovers, and I described my childhood cat as "that little bugger" (context: I was talking about how much I miss him), and wouldn't you know it, it got declined! I literally had to go in and edit "that little bugger" out of my post, when it was exactly how I wanted to express my feelings about him! I guess "I mis him" would just have to do, then.

I always called my dog a “bugger” or “bug” (cause he’s a pain in the as- ). I guess it is a mild insult/mild swear word though. Wiki page about it.
