They weren’t common when I was growing up notice them being practiced more now. I personally think it important to acknowledge the land we stand on and who came before us​

No. Here is an example of a land acknowledgment from a university in Toronto:
“I (we) wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.”

My ancestors came in the 900 and while there were ppl already here , they fought wars but didnt completely take away their lands. We fought, married eachother, fought other common enemies etc. And basically tolerate eachother to this day.
