Are there any artists that failed to blow up in a way you expected they would? (1 Viewer)

I feel like most artists have about the level of success you would expect... they climb to a certain level and more or less stay around that level. And even the ones that unexpectedly blow up (e.g. EXID), that still carries over into their subsequent releases until they wind down, leave the company, etc.

So who never managed to take off despite all indicators being that they should or who had an opportunity to solidify their popularity that ended up having that squandered?
