Are there any artists who you like their concepts/aesthetics, but not so much the actual music? (1 Viewer)

I was thinking today that Somi always has such cool concepts, but I've not really vibed with any of the songs.

Not intended to be a shady thread, just noticing that there are so many different aspects of an artist that you can appreciate one even if you don't bias the artist.

Xdinary Heroes. I like the idea of a heavier rock k-pop group. And their debut single, Happy Death Day, is honestly one of the best songs I have heard in k-pop. I will always check out their releases but they've never gone as leftfield as that one unfortunately.

Dreamcatcher, since debut til around "You and I" they had an amazing concept and lore going on. After that most songs didn't hit me as much anymore apart from Scream and Bonvoyage.

There are plenty of groups who imo have interesting and amazing concepts but I cannot list them as I also like their songs lol.

I don't rlly notice or pay much attention to mot teasers or concepts before a song/album/EP release. So the song has to do the heavy lifting for me: recently in the last few mths, iv been listening on heavy rotation/repeats 'REBEL HEART' n 'ATTITUDE' by IVE n on spotify free the fyp threw This is Chuu at me n i clicked on it n its rlly got me in the feels with most of the songs in the rotation except a few, especially Strawberry Rush - so i hv no idea of the concepts/teasers or other stuff abt rebel heart, attitude or strawberry rush(even if i posted/noticed in passing their teasers(

tldr most kpop songs the song >>> concept/aesthetics. The performances recently of Rebel Heart, attitude by IVE at their concerts/kcon/football match were rlly terrific n the fits/choreo fit the feels i got from watching the clips, so ig aesthetics/concept/outfits complement the song but don't overwatch the actual song for me. Not sure about previous releases tho but probably similar sitch: song >>> aesthetics/concepts!(for me anyways)

Happy Death Day was so good! I guess it wasn't received that great, but tbh, I don't know why JYPE would have expected it to be, it's clearly not a mainstream sound.

Right! It's like Nmixx. There are people (like me) who RIDE OR DIE for that kind of stuff. They let Nmixx stick to being weird, and it has paid off.
Xdinary have a loyal audience too, though, so, you know, whatever!
