I just want to know if there are others here who read and/or write fantasy.
I love fantasy but in my stories the main characters often have the look of my favorite idols.
If only I could draw. I have to use AI to get pictures of my characters and that is not the same as drawing them.

I have written a book and a few short stories but I prefer to read. I often think about writing again but I lack motivation to invest my time into it when there are so many other things I want to do.

My preference have always been fantasy/sci-fi and I can't imagine myself writing anything else!

I generally write YA/Middle Grade Fantasy. Regarding how your characters look, if you’re trying to get them from looking different from idols, I’d personally not suggest creating them via AI because it has a habit of making most faces look very similar and “pretty” I guess. I’d first “build” their look with just your imagination first, include both ”appealing” and “unappealing“ features and write it down. It’s not bad to have average looking characters. Its also not bad to have good looking characters either, to make them different you could always find a list of physical traits online probably and sort of toss them on whichever character you'd like

I also like to look at how other authors create their character, or look up images of people online, you could also make a collage of how you want your characters to look. Hopefully this was helpful.

btw I'm very against AI, so I suggest you not do that. The images can become all distorted if you manipulate them too much. I like Wing's suggestion best, so I'll echo her.
