Are U-Turns legal in your country? (1 Viewer)

Here, it is only legal in certain circumstances. You are allowed to make a U-turn as long as there is no sign or traffic signal saying not to. A U-turn is considered illegal in the following places:

• On a curve on the road​
• On the crest of a hilltop​
• On or near a railroad crossing​
• Near a bridge or tunnel that blocks your view​

I was under the impression that U-Turns were illegal, as that was what I had been told. It’s definitely frowned upon, so I wondered why it’s so common. It may be legal in certain circumstances but still not highly encouraged

It is legal, on parts of the road where u can also overtake someone.

The above rules u mentioned also can't be a passage where u can overtake someone. A.k.a. continues or non continues lines

Yes, as along as the road it 2 lanes in each direction and it's not marked as illegal. But it also varies from state to state. Some states say it has to be marked as ok. And it's always legal if you don't get caught.

The wording is kind of funny because they’re basically saying it’s legal if it’s not illegal I get what they meant, but the way they say it is funny

Here it seems that they’re allowed in most circumstances where there isn’t a sign explicitly prohibiting it, but there are other areas where they aren’t allowed (places with obstructed views, thickly settled places, divided roads, ect).

Also if anyone read “divided roads” and was like no shit Sherlock, I’d like to let you know that I have actually witnessed someone make a U-turn over a divided road. Don't underestimate people
