Are you a giving person? (1 Viewer)

Like if you see anyone in need would you go up to them and give them food or money? I’m not as giving as I’d like to be. The closest thing to giving for me is taking stuff to GoodWill. So in a way I’m donating my stuff but people will have to use money in order to obtain them... Is it really a good deed then?



I heard about this woman who purchased a gift card from Chipotle to give it to a woman in need and the woman was so ungrateful about it. She wanted actual money instead of some delicious warm food for herself. That’s another thing. I have trust issues. Like if I give you money are you going to use it towards necessities or something like cigarettes? I mean this is a chance for you to be getting your life together...

As a college student, I am not in the way of giving money a lot but I do think that I like to give time and hard work. I like to give up time to help people or give them emotional support in some way. But monetarily is a bit not a good idea for me

it's something i had to learn as i grew up and am still trying to do more, i think i was a bit self centered when i was younger. still am a bit sometimes

I'm not a very materialistic person so my way of helping is usually just giving someone my time if they need it but if they need a favour from me I'd be fine with helping and with something like money I wouldn't be bothered about when I get it back as long as I trust the person enough to know that I am going to get it back eventually.

It depends... there are so many people lying about their condition... when I know for sure that the situation is genuine yeah, I try to give if I can... but if not... I don't really enjoy giving money to someone that is not actually in need or will spend them on alcohol. Food might be an easier solution but I also know situations when they throw away the food

Same. If I’m in a pissy mood which is 99% of the time then I’m only giving to myself. Lol

I know right? People aren’t very genuine nowadays. But I’d like to think that I’ve done a good deed anyways.

I try but at the same time I can be hesitant about it, you never know when people are lying. In my town there was this old man claiming to not be able to walk, a veteran, homeless, etc... and then people in my town saw him be picked up by a woman, he got out of his wheelchair and it was later found out they were a couple who had been lying to people for months when they were living comfortable lives. So I do try to help when I think people are genuine, especially if there’s kids involved. My mom and I witnessed a father and son digging through garbage for food, the poor little boy was crying and you could tell the father was stressed so we ended up giving them the lunch we bought and some money.

That’s awful. I can’t believe people could be so insensitive and greedy. But then again I can because that’s the true nature of human beings. Aww. I’m glad you were able to help them. I’m sure it made their day a bit better. : )
