My mom doesn't like it much so she isn't very good, she does have a few standout dishes but there is no such thing as from scratch for my mom

it depends. I think my mum is better at baking than cooking. She can cook, of course, but it´s usually nothing TOO tasty, just edible, good, average. My dad can grill vegetables well, but his meals tend to be too fatty or oily to me. He is also really good at preparing meat which I don´t eat :D.
they are decent cooks, but not one of those "omg, my parents are known in the neighbourhood for cooking and every time you pass their flat, you just wish to be inside"

My mother was okay, made things from scratch sometimes then just stopped cooking after a well.
My dad's very, let's say experimental, but it's all edible.
Average cooks I guess.
