Appreciation Ateez really did some amazing things with this comeback… (1 Viewer)

Leading up to this mini album the members constantly said they were working very hard on this comeback, and that they were considering things that fans were hoping to see from them. Specifically that they were going back to their roots (debut sound).
I think the majority of fans had high expectations for this comeback because of how much the members were mentioning it, but also that they were being incredibly vague about it. It left everyone feeling very excited for what was to come.

As you may, or may not know, Ateez came back with Guerrilla. It not only sounds completely different from anything they’ve done in the past but it showed how much more they can bring to the table. I know very little about identifying specific genres, instrumental sounds and things like that so I is sorry if I get any of this wrong but, Ateez made Guerrilla have splashes of hip hop, heavy metal and screamo in their title, along with some beautiful verses that somehow compliments the heaviness of the rest of this epic song.

But what made this album so incredibly different and heightened to me is the fact that all the vocalists did so many different things with their voices. Not only can you tell that they’ve improved with their vocals through these songs, but its like their voices are almost unrecognizable because they’re singing in such a different way compared to other albums. It’s like this entire album sounds like an almost completely different group and I find it fascinating. Specifically in the title track, San, Yunho and Jongho have all very soulful tones in the bridge (idk what the term is called excuse my lack of vocal knowledge) but just listen to the bridge and then listen to another Ateez song not from this album and you’ll see what I mean. Sector 1 and Cyberpunk are other bsides that highlights this point as well.

This mini album has become a favorite from them for sure. They really outdid themselves with this one and are seeing the amazing results of all their hard work.

not a stan but i listened to the album for 3 hours straight lol. the title track doesnt even sound like kpop to me, very reminiscent of the bands i listened to in middle school, like mcr and ptv. i was impressed to say the least.

It’s always great to be reminded of other artists and songs you used to like. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Their album is a banger. Especially cyberpunk and sector 1. Glad you loved it as well
They really have been experimenting with this one, but it worked out so good. And they’ve already won a few times with guerrilla I believe, which is totally deserved
