Without the moons gravitational force pulling on the oceans as the earth spins, water levels would rise dramatically on earth, causing catastrophic flooding mankind has not seen since biblical times. The population at all the coastal cities would be wiped out.

If that was the only two choice..... yes.

At least without the sun we would still enjoy 8 minutes and 20 seconds of warmth (longer than the minute and a half I can hold my breath under water.

Then within days photosynthesis would stop entirely and most plant life would start dying off.

Within weeks global temperature would drop to negative 100F and oceans would freeze over.

While people in Siberia have proven with gas and heat, and people living under ground caves, you may be able to hold off for some time.

But within months, humans would resort to killing each other in total darkness and the collapse of the food chain.
