According to Wikipedia, they joined Warner Music Korea in April.
It also said they were in discussions to keep the original name with the group, but ultimately decided to change and use it beginning on May 3rd.
It seemed like BB Girls was already a more favored name from the label and they, along with the group, sealed the change in May.

This is just my assumption.
You probably are aware of this, but legally, I think in order for WMK to use the Brave Girls group name, they would have to purchase the rights to the IP brand from the original label. And it's likely WMK was not willing to shell out the cash.

Thank you for the explanation! I don't know anything about them other than they released a song that was a hit so I definitely missed some chapters
