Being aroace and having a gf (1 Viewer)

so I've mentioned being aroace before as well as me having a gf but somehow ppl tend to think those two things are mutually exclusive. Not all or even most aroace ppl have partners but they can and those of us who do aren't less valid. I have literally been told im "leading my gf on" because we date and im aroace....(?)
Im not void of emotion I can have a connection to people and date them dawg. I also DO kiss her sometimes not that anyone needs to know but like 80% of the time I'd rather be whooping her ass in a game of uno than do that.
Some people think im hurting her emotionally and some just think i don't care about her at all. But she knows and she doesnt mind so why assume that :/
All the abusive relationships I've been in and folks point their swords at the healthiest one I've had so far its ridiculous

but yeah, people need to be more educated for sure! I'm not LGBTQ, but I am disabled, and that comes with its own misconceptions. You have no idea how many times I've been babied bc they think I'm incapable jbc of my disability A disability is not a curse or whatever you (general you) may think it is - it's just a different way of living.

Just tune them out since at the end of the day the only opinions that matter are yours and your girlfriends and as long as you two are happy then everything outside of that is just noise and misery loves company isn't just a saying it's reality as miserable and bitter people get jealous of seeing other people being happy

i struggle with similar things as an aroace person myself. at the end of the day, not all aroace people have the same experiences or feelings. some feel no attraction to others at all, some rarely do.

i kind of fall into that last category. i've always struggled with romance because i don't fully even understand it. there's been people in my life that i thought i liked but then it turns out i never actually romantically liked them, i just liked the idea of romantically liking them. romance doesn't make sense to me and i've never felt inclined towards it, i don't know how i even would act if i actually liked someone.

For me romance is honestly a performance. I can act out lovey dovey-ness but not feel it. It just looks right when I see it with my inner eye. I view partners more like "I want to protect you and claim you as my own because we have a special emotional bond."
