I might be wrong but...

When you split a group with already known members, the chances are higher that the new group will debut more successful. Because the idols in the new group are already known and there are fans. The company also needs no trainees for the new group. It seems all members stay in the company, so there's still the option that they can work together as one group and can work in their own groups. Sounds like a pretty good deal for their company.

I'd get it more if they were doing a 2AM + 2PM = One Day or F-ve Dolls + SPEED = Coed School kind of thing, but it sounds like they are just splitting the current group in half and redebuting, even though (no offense to any LU) BEWAVE isn't actually famous enough to sustain two separate fandoms.

Another theory: the members from one group won't renew their contracts anyway and the company thinks (for whatever reason) a debut would be more profitable than a comeback of the whole group?
But to be honest, that doesn't make sense too.

I'd heard some rumors to that affect too: like maybe this was the company's way of making a deal with members who didn't like the direction of things?

Who knows, it'll be interesting to see what comes out of this. It's hard for a small company to support one group, much less two.
