billboard is basically launching what they call the "k-billboard awards" that is supposed to highlight korean artists' achievements on the billboard charts. it is airing on october 28 at 8pm KST.

this seems very normal, right? they want to promote korean artists and korean culture, that's great! however, when asked about their intentions in a interview...

they say they want to find the "next bts"...
it is incredibly degrading to artists who have worked hard to create their own image and own art only to be reduce as the next best thing. it is also weird because bts is still very much active with one of their member releasing a solo on the same date and performing with coldplay in argentina. overall, it was a pretty great initiative but it kinda ruins it when you know kind of thoughts went behind creating it.​

it's been lost for looong. barely any of these artists have actual control over their art but it's been worst in the recent years when they released they could get almost instant fame because of the "hallyu wave"
