they disbanded in 2016
so means if they did a reneal after the slave trade law [2011/2012 << depending on if did it before or after it was officially in place]
there contract would been around 5 years
[remembering they were massive in 2011 with i am the best] << obv not bp level but also remember yg didnt know how big bp would be


plus yg hates girl groups
and there bringing out a new girl group soon like they did when 2ne1 contract came to end
and i have a feeling lisa will prob leave for china in all seriousness she will make more money there

Yeah but that's under the assumption that there are a renewal and not just a shortening of the initial contract. 2009-2016 would make 7 years plus it makes no sense business wise not to make ANY group sign on for the full 7 years even if you don't have a lot of faith in them because there is always the chance that they might take off. There's no way a big company like YG would sign a group on to a shorter contract because even groups from the big three that don't necessarily become the #1 top group still make more money than most B-list, mid-tier groups

Plus the rumours about the new girl group aren't all what they seem. It's looking more and more like Baby Monsters will be an all Chinese girl group as opposed to a full Korean group. All of the known non-Chinese trainees have left YG recently and the only ones left are the four Chinese girls. By the looks of things, I think YG are trying to capitalise on Lisa's success in China by launching a Chinese knock off of Black Pink to bypass any regulations the Chinese government has about Korean entertainment.

china and korea are trying to make ties with kpop so i wont be surprised if yg is trying ride that wave...
but i just know big company's have done 5 year contracts
and wouldn't be shocked if blackpink is on only 5 year contract
obv it most likely a 7 but i just wouldn't be surprised as yg seems to be focusing on boy groups and bp popularity was all the girls not the company in my opinion

2ne1 literally renewed their contract which is why Dara is still there and why CL was there so long. They were promissed to have comebacks as 3 when Minzy left but YG let them die out there and never cared to give them a comeback.

Yeah but that was AFTER the 7 year contract had ended, JJ was saying that he thinks BP are under a 5 year contract because he thinks 2NE1 had a shorter contract at the beginning too but that's not the case. 2NE1 had a 7 year contract between 2009-2016 and that's when Minzy left which she wouldn't of been about to do if they were under longer contracts like your suggesting.
