When most people hear of blobfish, they think of this.

But that’s not actually what they look like in their natural environment. They live in an ocean depth with a high pressure, so they become depressurized when they’re suddenly brought to the surface. This causes them to appear very strange. They aren’t exactly lookers in their natural environment, but they’re worlds away from the image people have of them. They kinda just look like most other fish.

well, I'm one of them who thought they looked like literal blobs. lol but then clownfish don't really look like clowns, either, so...
