Oh, wow. That's a huge step but I'm honestly happy for her - she's at a stage in her career where she doesn't need a big label behind her and she might actually do better in a small one where she has more freedom. That is if she's not contemplating retirement altogether, she's worked for a very long time.

Have to wait and see what she does since being an idol for 25 years I wouldn't be surprised if she was thinking about going into a less out there adjacent role as I don't think she's had a year without releasing anything at all since the years she didn't release anything in Korea she still released things in Japan which plenty of idols have discussed feeling burnt out from a much shorter period of time.

I don't follow her closely, so in my mind, she already had a more muted role, but dang, you weren't kidding. She had four singles and was part of two tours last year alone.
