I recently finished a dystopian-romance trilogy. There are small extra books tailored to certain characters, but I haven't read them. Yet?

1984 has been recommended, I also like Animal Farm which is along the same lines sort of. They're definitely not as much of a "and they lived happily ever after" but if you're okay with that I enjoyed both.
For sci fi I would suggest Assimov. He has lots of books, I forget which books exactly I read but I do know I reead Nemesis. A lot of his books tie together to various levels (such as Foundation and the Robot series).
I'd also recommend I Am Legend for dystopia. It's short, but it's fun to follow imo and I love the ending, it's definitely unique in that sense. I think if you read the book it'll make the movie pretty annoying though, I read the book and when I heard the basic plot of the movie I was like what is this tv garbage

And if you haven't read the LOTR series or the Hobbit I'd suggest those for fantasy. The LOTR ones are fairly long and have some parts that are harder to get through, but the Hobbit is nice and short and easy, while still being fun imo.
