I haven't heard of any of them lol. :lisalaugh: It's fun to meet someone with wildly different tastes. I hope you enjoy them!!

I'm currently reading Lock In by John Scalzi and The Return by Rachel Harrison. Trying to get some spooky season reads in. I finished Chuck Tingle's Bury Your Gays this morning.

Sorry~ I even looked it up on wikipedia to see if that would jog any memories, and all I can think is that it definitely does not look like a book I would intentionally read. :lisalaugh:

How was A Little Life? I started it years ago and then never got around to continuing
oh boy...

i can totally understand the hate train on this book but for me personally, it's my favorite book of all time. it didn't feel like torture porn at all like other people say but that was my personal experience reading it. it's gonna be different for everyone based on your past experiences, trauma, and understanding of certain topics.... and if you really want to read this book, do it on your own accord. don't do it because someone recommended you this book, make sure you are COMPLETELY sure you want to proceed. read trigger warnings and do NOT take them lightly. make sure to take breaks between parts because it's a lot to digest. and most importantly, make sure you're in a good mental space because this book will definitely put you in a bad place after reading.

the first half of the book is kind of boring i've heard people say but i thought it was fine. the author wants you to get to know these characters, their daily lives, and all that. it's gonna make you form an attachment with the characters. and then the other half is all the pain and suffering.

i NEVER cry to anything. be it movies, books, video games or whatever, i don't cry like ever. BUT THIS BOOK had me fall to the floor, sobbing, holding my head in my arms.

and if you want to read a little life don't read it solely for the purpose to cry or to challenge yourself. read it because you want to learn, you want to see the digusting truth of the things that people do to others, because you want to understand how traumatic experiences really affect people.

i think this book also made me a more compassionate person. it made me realize that things really affect people. it also made me think about whether some people are doomed for destruction or if finding healing is possible.

I've been meaning to get back to it. Thanks for the heads up

It's the time of year where I get into stuff I don't normally read. Here's one I'm hoping to start soon
