News Boy Group Spin-Off For “Queendom” Confirmed (1 Viewer)

Mnet is reportedly getting ready to film the boy group spin-off of “Queendom” titled “Road to Kingdom” (literal title)!

On March 5, Joy News 24 cited several industry sources to report that “Road to Kingdom” will have its first recording in the third week of March. According to the report, boy groups including ONF, Golden Child, The Boyz, VERIVERY, and TOO are in talks to compete on the show.

A source from Mnet shared to Newsen, “The first recording for ‘Road to Kingdom’ will take place sometime in March. Because the show involves the groups meeting each other for the first time during the first recording, we cannot reveal the lineup.”

“Queendom,” which aired its first season last fall, featured a star-studded lineup of girl groups facing off against one another in various competitions before culminating in a fierce “comeback battle.” In “Road to Kingdom,” several boy groups will go up against each other and release music on streaming sites simultaneously. Based on Joy News 24’s report, the winning group of “Road to Kingdom” gets the opportunity to join “Kingdom,” Mnet’s next survival program scheduled for the second half of the year.

Joy News 24 reports that while premiere date of “Road to Kingdom” has yet to be decided due to the coronavirus situation, the show is expected to begin within the first half of the year.

I'm excited to see how different this will be from Queendom since they aren't any senior idols here (unless they announce them at a later stage).

Seems like they didn't even debut yet searching them up on YouTube just have introduction video for the members and pre debut variety videos

Great news, but I don't rly have idea who any of these groups are

I hope they have more in the cast so it's not just groups I don't know, I'd love to see some industry veterans too.

Why put a yet to debut group in the show

I mean this gets more eyes on them tbf but still, will be weird watching a group who don't even have a song yet go up against other boygroups

Isn’t the whole point of this show to showcase veteran groups who have been somewhat forgotten or are underrated. All of these groups are very... nugu.

20 days ago we had previous news about what "Queendom" season 2 will be.
So this time it will be "Kingdom". But "Kingdom" is expected in second half of 2020. "Road to Kingdom" is other, related, survival program,
and is expected in first half of year.
According to some translations, main program will be "Kingdom", where we will see more popular artists, and also winner of "Road to Kingdom".
On "Road to Kingdom" there will be competitive artists with strong fandoms, but with no music show wins.

That was before, and if lineup will really be ONF, Golden Child, The Boyz, VERIVERY and TOO, we can note, that
there are 5 artists instead of 6,
at least Golden Child and The Boyz have music show wins,
and TOO debut date is in this current March, and TOO is from Mnet's survival show World Klass. Also TOO is under n.CH Entertainment (Nature is also here).

Speaking of companies,
ONF is in one company with OH MY GIRL,
Golden Child - with Lovelyz,
The Boyz - well, they are in Cre.Ker Entertainment (in Kakao M), and girlgroup from Cre.Ker Entertainment, Melody Day is now disbanded ☹ ,
VERIVERY - with Gugudan,
TOO - with Nature.

"Road to Kingdom" is not directly like "Queendom". "Queendom" season 2 consists of two parts, "Road to Kingdom" and then "Kingdom".
More popular artists will be in "Kingdom" (second part).
