I started going to the gym a few weeks ago. I've lost almost 10lbs. I joined a golds gym because they have a pool. I don't get intimidated and I'm not insecure so I don't mind it being a lunk gym. For the first time I actually understand why people are afraid of gyms or feel judged. I've already had two prissy girls get all huffy because I was on the equipment they wanted to use. It was so hard not really rub in that I was getting my fat old man sweat all over it! Actually, I don't really sweat a lot but I don't think it would have mattered. I had some muscle man tell me how I needed to use him and others like him as motivation to "get in shape". "It would make the ladies fawn all over me!" It was like an 80's exercise commercial, seriously. I've never wanted to be crazy built like that guy. I like normal... I actually prefer stamina over muscle and always have. Lifting 50 lbs for 10 minutes seems way more useful than 100lbs for 1 second...

But I have a question about the wiping equipment down. Do I just use the towl I'm carring or do I need a second towl? Because once I've wiped head or face with my towel aren't I in essence wiping the equipment down with my sweat? I'm really baffled by this and no one explains it!

You use a second smaller one, dedicated to this simple courteous task. Also, stick to the stamina formula, you're on the right track

One of the reasons why I work out at home: hygiene. But it depends on your training system. You can't put a bunch of training machines in a small apartment.

Edit: my browser is in a bad mood today. :youreintrouble:

I've got a dated treadmill that I never use, how clever. I prefer the ones at the gym. But yeah, you need a pretty extensive set of gear at home to remotely replicate what you can achieve at your local gym. Someday, maybe....

It depends on the goals. Building strength (without looking like Dwayne Johnson), cardio training, weight loss? I would bet on Kettlebell training.

You can train whenever you want because you can store even a complete Kettlebell set (which you don't need necessarily depending on your starting strength) in your apartment easily. You'll find a ton of Kettlebell exercises at YouTube. Having said that, I'd recommend a basic instructional course first. You better have someone at the very start that can control your posture while doing exercises like Swings - your back will thank you. Maybe you'll find a CrossFit trainer in your gym that can instruct you.

I tried that too :ChaeNo::kokorohappy: I mean, its ok, just ok. Not the same for me. I do realize that you can achieve good results with these but I simply don't have the exponential motivation to train solo with a computer screen (eventho it's a genuine time saver!).

So 4 years ago, I immersed myself in a gym environment and it worked for me. I needed to be surrounded by multiple challenges and other desperate souls! lol I achieved my goals, firm butt and toned body. So I'm not letting go! I mean, in the end, whatever works for you, right? That's what my sis does, crossfit. But she's in there all freakin' day! I've got a professional life! lmaoo
