Ga-in easily had the most successful solo career of the four. And despite what happened that basically ruined it, I think her solo work is worth checking out. She's probably one of the earlier female solo acts who controlled her sexuality as a performer and tackled difficult and controversial topics, like having a good experience having sex for the first time in Bloom, a reinterpretation of the Eve story as a woman who rejects the paradise being forced on her in Paradise Lost, exploring why domestic abuse is so hard to leave in Fxxk U, and reflecting back on your life on your very last day in Carnival.

So I have a huge amount of admiration for her as someone who completely owned her image as a sexy and confident performer and used that to challenge people's perceptions and expectations. (Something she calls out in Truth or Dare, where people will look at her and make up anything they want to say, and she mocks them for it.)

In 2017, on her instagram and unprompted, she accused her boyfriend's friend of offering her weed, in a super aggressive way. (Note for the quote: her disease she's referencing here is her panic disorder.) "I’m already being treated with legal morphine to cure my disease. If you want to smoke, you should either just do it and go behind bars, or get really sick like me and get some drugs. This is my last warning, and if you do it again, I will destroy you." She also said her boyfriend had been in trouble in the past for illegally using drugs (well, that sounds tactful; in actuality, she called him a "former druggy." He did, in fact, get in trouble in 2009.) The boyfriend and friend denied her accusations, and her boyfriend of three years broke up with her.

The police decided to investigate the man she called out, and then she complained about having to testify/provide a witness statement. As far as I can find and from what I remember, the man Ga-in accused never ended up being arrested or found to have actually done anything illegal. So from a k-netz standpoint, it seemed like Ga-in was causing a bunch of drama, and from an i-netz standpoint, it seemed like Ga-in was ratting out a friend over nothing.

She had a couple of OSTs between 2018 & 2019, but Carnival in 2016 was her last real solo release.

Then, in 2021, Ga-in was fined for illegally using propofol, a substance that acts as a strong sedative. Her agency at the time said it was a one-time moment of weakness because her insomnia had gotten so bad, she was desperate for sleep.

So I mean, maybe she could have a comeback, but her random instagram tirade against her boyfriend's friend lost a lot of goodwill, and her own recent drug abuse scandal that she actually got in trouble for just kind of makes her look like a hypocrite. I hope she's in a better place though. She's really talented, and I can only imagine how much her panic disorder distorted her view on things.

She is still signed to her same agency (just confirmed on their website), so maybe she will be able to have a comeback someday.
