For my 11 yr old sister.
Instead of doing regular grade 6 math like area and stuff , her teacher is making them learn about banking and all the Canadian banks out there.

I get financial literacy is important but like how is this gonna help a 11 yr old fetus that isn’t even legally old enough to work or anything .

I feel like this should be taught in grade 9/10 because 15/16 is when some teens get jobs.
Did y’all learn about banking at a fetus age ?

Sameee, at 11 all I knew was it was like lining up for an amusement park ride but when you made it to the queue there was nothing but grownups talking and me poking random shit while no one notices 😂

we did learn about finance when we were in year 14/15. I believe we learnt about mortgage, interest and got some basic idea about taxes.
we also learnt about finance in social classes when we were about 12/13 talking about family balance and getting the taste of the facts what are the things we need to pay for.
I actually applaud her teacher. a lot of people don´t know anything about finance and then they are thrown into adulthood without realising how many things they have to pay.
better sooner or later. it won´t hurt her.

We were supposed to learn it in grade 11 (like mortgages and stuff like that) but we “didn’t have enough time”. Luckily I read ahead in the textbook. But they prioritized geometry and quadratics over banking

do a bank robbery, she'll understand the consequences of teaching that 🧍‍♂
