I hv no problems pronouncing her name even tho i nvr studied my own cultural language in school(i cheated in class by phonetically memorising a page of the simplest kindergarten level book, in like 6th grade i think. We dint hv to pass or study at all as i recall, nor in high school either-it was just free time while the chinese speaking n writing students learned, LOL) i cheated using my version of hanyu pinyin b4 i ever knew wat it was.
But after tat i had to learn to speak to colleagues with difficulty n slowly learned for personal reasons as well, n watching chinese shows on tv with english subtitles ig i absorbed it as well.
So to me it's Chrr(Tchr)-yie phonetically which if spoken quickly sounds kinda like Cher-yee in english, almost similar to Choo-yie to those unfamiliar with chinese ears. Its quite different even to me tho. My english-speaking TED-talk about chinese.(any better mandarin speakers here?)
