This is not a lie I have considered naming my future cat Mayonnaise and shortening it to Mayo ofc

And even if you don't name your dog Buddy, their nickname is buddy or close enough to it.
My brother calls our dog Buddy even tho it's not his name.

um i still just call her kitty, thats her government name now...........

but i sometimes call her kitkat too, so lets pretend kitty is short for that
