A dreidel is a four sided spinning top played during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. This year Hanukkah is celebrated from sunset on December 25th to nightfall on January 2nd. The date differs yearly. Each side of the dreidel bears a letter of the Hebrew alphabet; nun, gimel, hey, and shin. Some rabbis ascribe symbolic significance to the markings on the dreidel. Each player begins with an equal number of game pieces (usually 10–15). The game pieces can be any object, such as chocolate gelt, pennies, raisins, etc.The gameplay will be described in further details below. Major League Dreidel (MLD), founded in New York City in 2007, hosts dreidel tournaments during the holiday of Hanukkah.

There will be a total of 4 live games played. Please vote in the poll above which time works best for you. The times are in KST. There needs to be a minimum of two players for the game to work. The game should take no more than thirty minutes to complete.

Each player will begin the game with 15 coins. You will have to put a desired amount of coins into the “pot” (player’s choice).
I, the host, will spin the dreidel, screenshotting the results.

There are four possible outcomes.

a) Nun means “nisht” or “nothing.” The player does nothing.

b) Gimel means “gantz” or “everything.” The player gets everything in the pot.

c) Hey means “halb” or “half.” The player gets half of the pot. (If there is an odd number of pieces in the pot, the player takes half of the total plus one).

d) Shin means “shtel” or “put in.” The player adds a game piece to the pot.

The game either ends when one player gas collected all the coins in the pot and all remaining players have zero, or thirty minutes had elapsed, whichever comes first, then the winner will be the player with the most accumulated coins.
