It seems insane to me that there is not a legally required minimum for these companies to pay their idols. Like, that should just be a cost of doing business. If you decide to enter this industry, and control people's lives for years on end, you should not be able to get away with not paying them.

It's nice that MX stepped up when Starship failed to. They seem like legit good guys.

I agree. While I can imagine it’s probably really expensive actually having the training and cost of songs and mvs and promotions and whatnot, paying idols absolutely nothing has always seemed too far. I’m not even necessarily opposed to having idols pay some stuff in regards to training since realistically free training would probably completely eliminate any less established company, because the price for the training would be prohibitively expensive, but surely there’s a way to work out a system that doesn’t force idols to work for years with absolutely no pay. Or ways to outsource some of the costs associated with training (like I’m sure American pop singers for example paid for vocal lessons when they were young, but it wasn’t a direct price to their current company). Or a system where idols pay less at the start/when there’s less success, and only start paying more of the costs if/when they become more established or successful. Or any of the many other reasonable options I’m sure exist. But to get no pay at all ever shouldn’t be allowed imo
