Were you a voracious reader as a child or was reading not really your thing?
Personally I loved reading! I was a very ‘imaginative’ type of kid,
so books helped fuel my imagination~

Spoiler: Here are some of my favorites:

Favorite Book
Weslandia by Paul Fleishman

It’s about a bit of a misfit who crafts his own civilization,
I just really loved the story and the imagery in this book!

Favorite Author
Louis Sachar

A lot of people would know him for “Holes,” but I also loved all
of his other books. I used to seriously crack up in class while reading them!

I also loved the horror books like Deadtime Stories, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, & Goosebumps,
especially those ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style ones.

Wow these are some great choices, I read Watsons Go to Birmingham not long ago and would say it has certainly held up. Loved Magic Tree House, totally forgot those!

I remember those Junie B. books, I thought they were pretty funny but I also remember some controversy among parents because of the poor grammar and “sassiness” in the series lol.

Personally, I was kind of a late starter when it came to reading. I was really behind academically until I was about 11 and then at the end of the school year, I won a couple of awards and was given some WH Smith vouchers. I had wanted to spend them all on stationary but my mum made me buy a couple of books and said that if they were too hard for me, that my dad could just read them aloud to me. So that's what we did almost every night for a year! I would get a book from the local library or order one from Amazon and my dad would read them to me until one day, I got impatient waiting for him to come home from work and started a new book by myself. I jumped from having a reading age of 8 to having a reading age of 15 in a year!

Some of my favourite books were:

• The Shapeshifter Series by Ali Sparkes which is still a really good YA series, it's one of the few series I've found where you can actually feel the characters growing and maturing as the series goes on. There's 5 books in the original series but there have been a couple of follow-up series since then. I still read new ones when they come out because I feel like I've grown up with the characters in a way.
• Harry Potter (obviously!)
• Jimmy Coates Series by Joe Craig, I think I read the first 5 but apparently he's released more since then.

I read tons as kid.

I quite liked Enid Blytons books, mostly Famous Five and Secret Seven series though now i have learned she's bit controversial author.. but i guess many older authors are (her works are like from 50s.). I also read Nancy Drew series that apparently is from 30s god i didn''t even realized i was into that old stuff as kid.

On shorter stuff I remember Matilda by Roald Dahl that was kinda creepy at times, but great. This is at least bit newer, from 80s.. still old though.

Yeah it was definitely fun!

If I find the fanfic I'll let you know! I probably won't though since I didn't know what fanfiction was back then so I didn't bother putting it online :/

Rainbow Magic was my life. I have over 70 books from that series and my parents spent over $100 on those. I hate those books now.
