They are designed to fit either foot, and the dancer chooses which shoe goes on which foot after purchase. This allows the shoe to mold to the foot it's worn on. Dancers then proceed to “break in” their shoes, which can be done so in quite a violent manner.​

It kind of makes sense but I didn’t know that Watching them break their shoes in is fun though. Gymnasts can also be fun to watch when they just got new grips and want to break them in, but it’s less intense
