This is by looking to see if the oil paintings in question contain certain forms of radioactivity not naturally found on earth. If an oil painting contains strontium-90 and cesium-137, that means the oil painting was painted after 1945. Therefore, if the legitimate oil painting was supposed to be painted before that year, it means you have a fake.
