Ofc I’m taking some liberties, you can argue that it doesn’t count. But in my world it counts because it came about as part of the American Revolutionary War and happened in the time period.
The battle in question was in Gibraltar, which in modern day is in south Spain (but not a part of Spain, it’s a British overseas territory). The area has been a part of many battles because of strategic position. One such conflict took place between Britain, France, and Spain. It began just with the Spanish in 1779, who attempted to blockade Gibraltar, and the French joined the Spanish in 1782. An assault on the region was launched in 1782, involving 60,000 French and Spanish soldiers (along with ships and other such items of war), while the British force numbered 5,000. It was a defeat for the French and Spanish, and for the British this helped bring about peace talks and deals with the French, Spanish, Americans, and British to end the American Revolution.
How is this part of the revolutionary war? Well France and Spain played large roles in the revolution. They were allied with the colonists fighting against the British, and provided aid, weapons, financial help, ect. Their war with Britain began directly as a result of the American Revolution, and this led to conflicts with Britain, not just in the Americas, but in Europe also. It involved over 65,000 troops, making it the largest battle as part of that war. The Battle of Long Island (the biggest battle in American soil during the Revolution) had 30,000 men total.
