Sometimes dictionaries will add fake words into their dictionary. This acts as insurance against copying. If a dictionary is being released and has the fake words, the original dictionary writer can tell that their work was stolen
That's funny. Less funny if people think the fake word is a real word and start using it, but that's probably low risk, considering people use dictionaries as a reference vs. reading the whole thing.
