Basically they grow, including seeds Inside. Then they purposely die which causes the roots to get uprooted. And then that causes them to be carried by the wind, which causes their seeds to become more dispersed

I did not know that. I wonder why do they purposely die. I guess, if they didn't, maybe their seeds wouldn't get spread around?

(Also, I actually had a nightmare about them, somehow, there was a tumbleweed that had long rat-like tail.) Now I know why I had an odd nightmare about that. You made me look at tumbleweed lol

Yeah it’s a way of spreading the seeds far. If they didn’t die and dropped all the seeds where they are, they’d be in trouble if the environment isn’t that great for whatever reason

Tumbleweed is actually not a specific plant, there’s many of them. But colloquially people think of Russian thistle when they think of tumbleweed. They often work similarly though, they break from the roots and go tumbling in some fashion

No, they come from a variety of families. Tumbleweed just describes a method of spreading seeds that can be employed by various plant families. It’s kind of like describing animals as hunting as a pack, all kinds of animals use that method to survive without being related to each other.
