Koreans are fuming that Ukraine apologized for comparing the Japanese emperor responsible for the East Asian holocaust done by the Japanese armys during the mid 1940s. Korean people have showed a lot of compassion towards the Ukraine citizens being stuck in the middle of the Russian-Ukranian war. They donated a lot of war items and some Koreans even risked their lives to go to Ukraine.

It just looks like the Japanese lobby forced Ukranian diplomats to apologize, which makes Koreans look weak. And this has made them lose face.

I’d argue that any country that has faced Japanese imperialism to be upset about the amendment that Japan was never fascist because that would be a lie, and twitter does have an issue regarding WW2–mention anything about comfort women and you’re swarmed with bots arguing otherwise
re: the technicalities with Hirohito being basically a puppet emperor for the military, that’s another story
at any rate, I don’t think this issue has anything to do with the Ukrainian invasion so if anyone uses this to justify what’s happening to Ukraine….
