Lose interest in a group you really, genuinely stanned with all your heart?

This is currently happening to me with a group I have stanned for years now and I'm kind of having a hard time letting go of them. I still love the members but my interest in their music is lessening with each one of their releases and because of that, I have been paying less and less attention to them as a whole. I see fans talking about them now and I barely have a clue what they're talking about because it has been so long since I watched anything related to them. But I know for a fact that I still love the members because I get excited every time I come across content with them but then their music just disappoints me. Of course they still have some songs I love here and there but overall, I have more songs I dislike than songs I like in their discography... But I just can't let them go!

I don't know, it's such a strange feeling. I mean, they're just a boy group but I literally feel like I'm letting go of a long-time friend who I loved and cherished with all my heart. I literally watched them grow and I want nothing but the best for them. I feel so childish. I don't even know if anything I'm saying even makes sense.

This whole thread just feels like a huge repetitive mess. If you read up to here, thanks.

I have: Super Junior was my first ever group from Kpop. My ub group is NCT now.
I still love the members and the songs; it's just that I don't have a lot of time to keep up with them.
NCT is a big group which brings out lots of content everyday, and they will be bigger and bigger

Yes. I don't stanned BP for years but they were my first group and I am simply not that interested anymore. Their latest cb was dissapointing for me and since then I don't really follow them. But I think i will check out when they have a cb, maybe i would find it good... Who knows.

But I think even if you don't like their music you can still follow the members, there is nothing wrong with it.

I have lost ineterest in quite a few groups over the years. I still liked the members but their music didn't work for me anyone.

I think it's normal. And everyone, at least everyone who have been kpop fans for years have groups that they abandoned.

Reasons are either not having a comeback, not being too active, music that disappoint you.

I fell out of touch with tvxq and suju especially when Exo started growing. Super Junior had all of those controversies and Tvxq hasn't been the same without all 5. I still love both but keeping up is a task lol

Not yet, though I've only been into kpop for a year. I already feel like I'm giving up on certain inactive stan groups ever having comebacks at this point, though I still follow the other things the members do and I can't see myself losing interest in the songs that they've already put out that I love.

2pm and suju really hit me in the head what i think about it. suju was truly in my generation and stuff and honestly it's weird remembering them in the hasrh light they're cast in now. 2pm kind ofdid the same for the most part tho it was not like that when i stopped - my attraction(?) was just dying down a bit and most of it was just getting old.
also, bts is kinda slowing down for me when i think about it. they mainly get internaional clout, and it's like they only cater to other intr-armys than actually sticking with korean stuff like before. not saying that international expansion was a bad influence - just not fully korean anymore.

I've been into Kpop since 2001 and most groups that I fall away from have either disbanded or gone on such a long hiatus that they arent considered active anymore. There are a few I used to follow more and haven't for a while now, though, and I definitely understand that feeling you've abandoned or given up on them and their work.

You can't think of it in that manner though. People grow, people change, and people move on in love to other things. I used to play my alto saxophone all the time and I was so heavily into symphonic and marching band, but even though it gave me fond memories and I dont regret a bit of it, my life grew away from playing music and being a physical part of it.

It is hard, but you can't have regrets or attach negative feelings or feelings of guilt when you move away from something that once held more interest in your life than it currently does. It doesn't mean you stopped enjoying it or gave up on it or the artists behind it.

Yes, but not as.. dramatically? Lol, sorry :pandalove: I mean it's more what happens gradually to me, I get more and more detached and then I realize I don't even know what's up with that group anymore though I still like them and have genuine fondness towards them, but I'm just not that interested anymore? 2PM, LedApple and NU'EST probably for me are group that fit this most.

well I had that with some groups. but currently BTS is doing that to me. I seriously love the members, i am proud of them, I have been a fan since their debut. But love yourself era was not my thing for some reason. I much prefer their older stuff. I really have a hard time letting them really go due to the members but I have not liked their release for some time now.

I think the main thing is, I don't actively look into them as much as I used to when I did like their music. So I would watch all of their performance videos and dance practices and then I would go onto watching everything else. But since I stopped liking their music, I just stopped caring about them as much as a group. The members are a different story. I still love the members individually but I don't care for them as a group so I just don't look into them at all anymore. And it's just making me sad because I was literally one of the first fans of this group and I watched them grow into who they are today so I had a special connection with them. They're one of the few groups I supported from the start.
I have lost interest in quite a few groups over the years. I still liked the members but their music didn't work for me anyone.

I do drop groups often. Actually, at one stage I have literally stanned almost every boy group I have come across but I lose interest after a few days most of the time (at most a month). I have never actually lost interest in a group I actually completely supported and stanned for so long though. I think that's why I'm feeling this way. It's usually hard for me to actually stan a group but when I do, I never drop them so this is new for me.

Lol yes, it is pretty dramatic. I can't even read over my OP because I feel like I'll cringe. I wrote this right before going to sleep last night so I was groggy and emotional. :llama_laugh:
But yeh, I have been with this group since the start and watched them grow. They were one of the first group I ever stanned too so they're even more special in my heart. But I have just lost almost all interest in them completely as a group. :(

So many people have mentioned Super Junior, and it makes me a bit sad cause that's the case for me too. Like I still love the members so much (except for Kangin and Shindong, for obvious reasons), but when it comes to music I haven't been too impressed after PLAY. For some reason they've stuck with the latino stuff for a while which I don't really care for. And I guess when comparing to the newer top groups they don't seem to keep up as well. I mean it's good to stick to your signature sound, but honestly it's slowly but surely getting duller. I honestly didn't almost even realize when they dropped their latest release.

I mean I still appreciate and love everything they've done for kpop, and I'll try to follow their activities, but it's a bit sad to realize that my first ever group's music doesn't cater to my tastes that much anymore. T_T
