When I started watching crunchy roll it was completely violating copy right laws and still using fan subs. Ugh, that was almost 25ish years ago....

Yea crunchyroll was one of those pirate sites until they actually formalized their business.

Its pretty interesting that they didn't get charged punitively for their backlog of piracy.

I think the Japanese distributors knew they would never have the reach crunchroll was going to give them at the cost crunchyroll was going to charge. Both sides made a very wise business decision. The only real competition was Funimation and crunchy roll got them last year.
