I have a tattoo that was chosen without any specific meaning -- I picked it from a wall during a flash event the artist was doing -- but it's special in that it was the one I picked totally for myself, with no involvement or opinion of anyone else, with a tattoo artist I'd been following and had selected myself.
My first tattoo that was designed for me feels less special to me, just because it feels like it was everyone else's choice and was barely mine. (I'm the least tattooed person in my whole family. Everyone has a lot of opinions on tattoos.)
