My family has a nickname for sparkling apple cider. We call it spider. Sometimes I forget that not everyone calls it that and casually say stuff like “I just had some delicious spider”, which has gotten interesting reactions Though I won’t deny there are times I remember not everyone calls it that and say it anyways to see how they react.

For onions, I nicknamed them King Boo from Mario because of his body shape resembles an onion.

when my siblings and i were little we called pelmeni "little hats" and chebureki "half moons"
and we called these things "cheese pizza" lmao

we couldn't remember all the russian/caucasian dishes cause we barely knew the language, so until i was like... 16-17 we just used descriptive nicknames. i still struggle tbh its embarrassing at my big age
