The one that inspired this is actually outdated, but the Massachusetts Bay Colony used to have two Falmouths. During the American Revolution, there was a Burning of Falmouth and a Battle of Falmouth, both in Massachusetts, but in different places. What ultimately changed this issue was Maine becoming a state. One of the Falmouths was located in modern day Maine, so after becoming a state there was only one Falmouth left in Massachusetts, with the other becoming Falmouth Maine.

But also as a current one there’s also two Springfields in New Jersey
