We live in a mainly ingredient household. You know you need to go grocery shopping when all you have left is onions, mayonnaise and bread ​

Yeah, we always wet that way. Pre made would mostly only show up on vacations (either the vacationer due to limited cooking supplies, or if someone stayed home and didn’t want to cook much). Even with Canadians that was more a childhood thing, as

Yeah, I rely heavily on them plus I have elderly neighbors on one side and a chef on the other side.
They share food with me. I'd be a disgrace to my grandmas if I shared prepackaged things with my neighbors.

Mainly an ingredient household but on rare occasions we have prepackaged food in the case of nobody wants to cook that day and we have something to eat for that day

Yes, I personally only like fresh as can be food too. My mother is strict on it too that she will only eat spaghetti if she herself made the sauce from scratch lol. We also during summers grow and harvest our own stuff as much as possible. I think like sweet corn is one of the few things I eat from a can all else is fresh or made from scratch.
