When you return back to a game after not playing for a while to continue where you left off, or start brand new and create a different game?

I always restart because I like the clean slate feeling.

really depends on the game, some of them its easy and some of them it's literally impossible to do it

[Tickita]

Continue, though I'm not gonna know what I'm doing

[Villains]

continue

Another reason why I restart

If I'm determined to finish the game, of course I'll save and continue especially when it's the First time playing.
I'm not going to replay it from the beginning just because I stopped and took a break for a while. Also, doing that is a waste of time.

The only time I'd replay games from the beginning is after unlocking New Game+ options [ if available ] with whatever was unlocked from the first play-throughs.

return to an old game but realise that I have no idea how to play it so restart and if I someone managed to remember then go back to the previous save? lol

It depends on the game. I haven't played Stardew in some time, but I refuse to start a whole new save file because I made so much progress on my farm there.

Where I left off. Otherwise it's a pain in the ass to restart.

Pretty understandable. Most games I play are either rather short (horror games) or without a relevant story (survival games, shooter). But I restarted Dishonored too after a break. I wanted to keep the immersion. I saved the game when Corvo (the player character) hid in a cellar. Then I stopped playing for six weeks. What did Corvo all this time?
