I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, so sorry mods if I get it wrong

But essentially, the title. Do you read fanfiction and if you do what kind?

When I was younger I used to read fanfiction for games or anime, but I fell out of it after a while. I've never read fanfiction about kpop cause it's always felt weird to me that people were writing about real people.​

I do. I read fanfics on my favourite tv shows, books and sometimes kpop when I want something a bit fluffy, cheesy and fun :).

sometimes when I'm really feeling it, I do read ff, most of it angst (I finished jwqs recently though so I think I'm all set with hurt for the month), but crack fics are always my fav

I remember reading this one about the king's avatar where everything is the same, except ye qiu hid a whole bagpipe in his jacket and would play it during random intervals for the sake of annoying literally everyone around him
shrek!au ones are hilarious, as are the light-hearted ones that are somehow completely ooc yet somehow 100% ic at the same time

Not really. I used to, though - mainly One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer. I'm the opposite of @yellowcoat - I'd rather read fanfics about celebs than about movies/books/TV shows, etc.

I used to read a ton of Smallville fanfiction back in the day.

There was a dedicated fanfiction site called Lana-Clark (Sweet) back in the day during it's run.

Man.... There were some amazing writers on there. People I would legitimately buy fiction from if they went out and wrote romance novels.

I had a handful of favorite writers that had these epic love stories and romances they came up with.

Many of the ones I liked best were AU based.

God good memories.

Makes me want to go and browse that site if it's still up and reread some of my favs.

Uh I started reading fanfics pretty much exclusively about real people probably a decade ago now but I won't say who it was about because it's too cringe but in the last year or two I just lost interest in fics in general and then didn't start reading or following anything again until I got into My Hero Aca last year and now I read a lot of stuff about Shigaraki and a bit of Dabi, haven't started again on the taekook tho, fics about anime characters is just so much more unhinged because people don't have to deal with the guilt about writing about real life people its so much more fun

Also I know fics about real people is weird and morally questionable okay? I KNEW BUT I JUST COULDN'T STOP, IT'S BEEN A GUILTY PLEASURE FOR YEARS PLS FORGIVE ME

No worries I get it. I meant it more as a personal thing like I personally could never get over the fact that people were writing in personalities for others that already existed. But if you like em, go off.

I think maybe because I started reading about actual people before I ever liked an anime enough to want to read the fanfics it sort of normalised there being fanworks about irl people for me and even outside of what I was into reading, every other fandom I knew of that wrote fanfics at the time were mostly about irl people like bands and stuff and I didn't really know anyone or happened to interact with anyone who did the whole fanfic thing for fictional characters. After finally reading fanfics about characters that were fictional to begin with I can kinda see now how it's really weird writing about irl people however suddenly realising how weird it might be doesn't erase the fact that i've enjoyed it for years so it will probably continue to be a guilty pleasure of mine, just a slightly more enlightened one now LOL
