Do you think 5th gen will start anytime soon? (1 Viewer)

At this point I'm really wondering when people will start calling groups 5th gen. To me it feels like with the recent crop of monster rookie GGs, the 4th gen just went into overdrive mode last year, but on the same time most people consider 2017-2018 the start of 4th gen.

So we're potentially already in year 5-6 of 4th gen. What would have to happen now, for people to kick off the next generation?

With third gen, who was very short for some reason, people seemed very eager to end it as soon as possible, but I saw no one yet talking about 5th gen. I wonder why?

we don't know what's waiting for us in 2023
baby monster certainly won't be the only one significant debuting and if so, then other lesser known group will blow up seori will become internationnally famous too

I think GIDLE/ITZY/etc are more so groups that are shifting into 4th but still have that slight 3rd gen edge. That’s why they’re called gen 3.5

My rule for Kpop generations is that a new generation starts when the majority of the oldest members of new groups are younger than the majority of maknaes of previous groups.

I was just thinking most of the major labels debuted a new group very recently and even YG will follow up now, so it seems unlikely any of them will debut another group anytime soon
