It's a hot topic where I live, but I feel most people avoid talking about this topic because they are scared it will be offending to the nation/country where it started...

Nope, its tempting to say yes but at the same time given how the change in environment affects how common mutations in viruses like coronavirus are I have a tendency to believe that it's more likely tbh, especially given the specific types of mutations.

if it's bioterrorism, wouldn't they want to unleash a virus with a higher mortality rate? There are far more deadlier viruses.
There are actually conspiracies that the virus was unleashed and that gov's were "nvm" at first because they want population control. The virus is especially dangerous for old and people with weak immune systems, so it could be that they want to "get rid of" our elderly since they seem to be a problem (in my country, there are more pensioners than working people, who work for their retirements).
But even that seems off cuz: the global economy will take a huge hit from this. I don't think our world leaders want a collapse in the economy.

But if you have the virus or you are in contact with the virus and you know about it and go out in public etc, then I consider you as a biological terrorist. You knowingly spread a virus that is deadly to lots of people and that is currently mutating and has deadlier versions of it floating around.
And I hope that such people are prosecuted as one.

No, the coronavirus still seems to be spread by a human oopsie. With more travellers every year and the increase of air transport, this won't be the last crisis and it isn't the first one either (tho this is more extreme).

well, Chinese gov definitely made mistakes hiding a lot of information. now, chinese economical centers are all good, while the global economy is destroyed. who is the winner here? who opened AGAIN the wet markets despite starting a pandemic?
