They have their stans so they will sell enough albums, but in terms of public appreciation and digital charting, they ill probably chart relatively poorly. I think JYP has given up on national popularity and just wants the fan cash for the rest of his remaining life until he goes to whatever place his cult believes in.

A lot of international fans are dropping NewJeans after the Min Heejin controversy and a lot of people don’t want babies to debut. IVE is a shoe-in for AOTY but it doesn’t mean every other group in existence can’t make good sales too.

I'm just considering Korea. Most people who allegedly care about Min Heejin's controversy are other group stans who are more concerned about competition for their biases than anything else.

I really don’t think it’s the competition. SM stans had been complaining about Heejin for years but nobody listened, but now people finally are. Idk what the kpop industry’s obsession is with debuting literal fetuses

Yes, a small minority of SM stans had issue with Min Heejin before but the majority basically told them to keep it quiet because they didn't want any controversies to affect their groups. Now that MHJ is off SM it's no problem for them to get into the anti-MHJ bandwagon.

If you ask me what's a real controversy yet to be clarified, it's how Sulli got involved with Choiza while she was still young. And if any other SM idols were involved in facilitating their relationship.

I didn't hate it, I just was confused because musically and lyrically, it seemed to go everywhere, like there was no exact direction.

Does anyone know if it was a successful debut song?
Because it seemed like A LOT of people felt the same way I did, at least when reading the comments about the MV.

If the debut song wasn't successful, then fans and potential ones may be skeptical about their first comeback.....?

Who knows. Maybe they'll surprise everyone and shut all of us up with a killer track.

Yeah I think it will flop. NMIXX seems to lack any one person in creative control of the group and they suffer as a result. Like when I see their album art designs or “lore” it just seems wildly at odds with their fashion and the way they are presented. At least Aespa is a cohesive whole. It seems JYP has lost his ability to innovate and now they just follow trends, like Twice jamming a load of y2k scenes into their last music video after NewJeans made it big time.

It's just a formality that he isn't CEO on paper, but he remains a huge influence. The same with Sooman and his warped Kwangya ideas despite him not being CEO of SM either. JYP is still doing some of Twice's recent songs. Korea is a hierarchical society based on seniority, so JYP as Founder trumps everyone else in the overall direction the company is moving. The day to day stuff is handled by everyone else.

Comparing to other 2022 groups, yeah I don’t think they’ll get IVE-NWJN success. But because they’re from JYP the chances of it completely flopping is little to none. I have a feeling it’ll be better received than AD MARE; as so far the concept looks more cohesive and not as “random” as O.O/Tank. I don’t see NMIXX blowing up though anytime soon
