I'm not saying one way or another but it could be a sign that there's congestion or something more serious with the insides of your nose...

one son recently had surgery for his nose because it was partially blocked due to allergies and one of the symptoms was making a noise when he was breathing through it

No, but when I sneeze it creates hurricane force winds and when I blow my nose if I don't double or tripple up layers I'll blow straight through it.

Unfortunately for me this has been going on for as long as I can remember. Even as a little kid my nose would whistle. I do have a tiny nose so idk if that has something to do with it
