It was an endless loop. An endless loop that Omiko couldn’t break. She’d tried, multiple times. But no matter how hard, she always saw her boyfriend, Max Heartstone, die. In the exact same way.
The image was imprinted in her mind. Max with his limbs strewn in all sorts of unnatural angles, his head torn clean from his neck. Whenever the time loop restarted, the very thought of the painful death that Max had to endure kept her up at night.
As the previous time loop ended, Omiko shot up in her bed, breathing heavily. Her bright red hair was a mess. She reached over for her phone. It read that it was 7:30 AM. Omiko yawned as she got up from her bed, quickly changing into a hoodie and pair of blue jeans. Next, she made her way to the background.
In the bathroom, Omiko grabbed a brush from the cabinet and slowly worked it through her tangled hair, before brushing her teeth after putting it down. She grabbed a few hair ties from the cabinet, using them to part her red hair and tie it into two braids that went down her shoulders.
Slowly, Omiko made her way into the kitchen to get herself a bowl of cereal. She was familiar with what happened this morning by now. In approximately half an hour, Max would knock at the door asking to hang out. Surely enough, he did. A soft knock was heard at the door, just as Omiko finished her cereal. She quickly walked to the door after depositing her bowl in the sink, going to the door and slowly answering it. Sure enough, there stood the short blue haired boy. He had a tiny smile on his soft face. “Morning, Omiko!”
“Morning, Max,” Omiko said, looking down at him with a sad smile. He was so innocent, the fate that awaited him by the end of today didn’t fit him at all.
“How are you?” Max questioned with a small tilt of his head, frowning as he seemed to notice the sad smile on Omiko’s face. “Why do you seem sad?”
“It’s no-”
“Don’t say it’s nothing.” Max cut her off, frowning as he crossed his arms. “You know very well I can’t be lied to.”
Omiko sighed as she looked down at Max. “I’d rather not talk about it.” She stated firmly, and Max gave a nod and understanding smile.
