you see an excessive # of versions for an album being released? this happened with a kpop group i like for their preorder. it seems there are 9 versions!!!! the world doesn't need that many. i've becoming more conscious about the environment lately and it just freaks me out a lot. a lot of excessive stuff being produced, i get the same feeling inside of party city, went there once high as shit and almost started crying bc there's so much shit in there that's being produced that's so wasteful. maybe i am insane, just needed to rant about this.

When they make member jewel cases i do see that many. But usually they make only ... Like 3?

Yeah tbh jewel cases are just a way to cash in more and make more numbers

sadly yeah. looks like the group i was talking about has 5 compact versions (praying not jewel cases PLEASE), one other version (retailer exc), and 3 main versions. they could've just kept the three!!! they're the most conventional book-type kpop album anyway. (i'm trying to be so vague here as to not get people angry even though idk if that group has a strong fanbase here). i wish companies will start doing what Lorde did with Solar Power (disc-less music box) because some people are just buying for the pcs anyway! seldom have i seen someone use a disc.

No, but I feel like reasonably so much waste is created all the time, some that'll be chucked out right away (including some albums), some that will be around a while longer, but it's not like most of us can make any difference either way. It's more of an I don't see the point of getting too upset unless it's going to make a change in the world (which some people do, I'm guessing we aren't though). But otherwise it's just something upsetting that won't generally change and will just make us feel badly.

I did not think about the environmental aspect of it yet, but in general I'm not a fan of those many versions things.. the entire point is just to make fans spend more money on the same thing in the end and so many are just eating it up. I would never get more then one version of any album.
