Now of course this is just my opinion and feel free to disagree but this is just an appreciation thread for the 2 groups.
While both of the groups are rather popular on this and other forums, I'm just generally speaking of their popularity on Korea since that's their main market in regards of "the hidden diamond of K-Pop"
I remember a lot of people writing in Dreamcatcher related videos that their concept and the group itself is overrated.
But it's honestly never been done before, at least for a Korean Group (J-Pop is a lot more focused on Rock GGs), as much as I know.
Dreamcatcher is doing something new, exciting and unique and while that might come with some difficulties they have been absolutely rocking it thus far.
They might've turned more towards the mainstream side of music, as in not keeping it as rock as their first few releases but they never turned a blind eye to their beginning.
What I think makes them stand out among others is the members.
They are all so freaking unique.
Visual-wise and vocal-wise.
Within the group no one gets overshadowed my someone else, it's so balanced which is so rare these days.
They each always have a spotlight on them in their songs.
You can see that each member is bringing something worth to the table.
The best vocal performance of a group of the current gen.
And while many things in front of a camera might be fake, i can just generally feel that the members have a close bond with each other.
Also people are still calling their dancing and choreo overrated till this day and I just don't see how it's overrated.
Every choreo they have is just amazing and worth of the hype.
They are creative, aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and they flow so well each time.
The way they are able to combine quick movements with slow ones withing just one part of a choreo is amazing.
(also shoutout to their album covers, they have some of the most beautiful albums I've seen).
Most of what I said about Dreamcatcher applies to A.C.E as well.
So what I think makes them stand out among others is the members.
If you ever heard any A.C.E song, their vocals stand out immediately.
Each 5 of them have some of the most unique voices in K-Pop, from Jun's raspy voice, Chan's crystal clear voice,
Donghun's full, emotional vocals, Wow's soft low voice and Byeongkwan's raw voice.
Each of them is immediately recognizable once you hear it again.
You can pin point exactly who it is, even as a non fan you'd say "oh it's that guy".
And while most of the time such differences in voices don't seem to fit well together A.C.E always hammers out harmonization like no other group does.
None of them feels overshadowed by someone else, they get treated equally well.
Some groups focus more on their vocals, while others more on their performance but A.C.E is one that does both extremely well.
Take 'Take Me Higher' as example, the vocal range should be for females but Jun and Donghun are doing an amazing job singing their lines (almost all of the in a higher falsetto or belting) which is hard to constantly pull of well with the same good quality.
With A.C.E it also feels like they have a genuine bond with each other. I mean Byeongkwan took Chan home to his parents for like half a year after leaving JYP, his parents practically became Chan's second pair of parents. They appreciate each other so much.
And I can't stress enough what a HUGE mistake it was not to cast them for Road to Kingdom.
They are the cover kings, each cover they do is respectful to every aspect of the songs, just watch this.
